What is Proteus?

I’m Nathan Jensen.  My mom would tell you that I’ve always been a water-baby. Growing up fishing all over the state of Washington both in freshwater and saltwater. I can personally vouch for the massive overfishing and scaling down of wildlife over the years.  It doesn’t take a scientist to realize the sheer numbers of population growth, combined with global environmental issues combined with a ton of other variables adds up to a lot of bad things… Humanity as a whole is partially to blame for most of these issues, but there are some naturally occurring phenomena out there as well.

With Proteus Underwater Solutions I intend to not only investigate these issues along with several organizations (private/public) but hopefully develop some solid strategies to implement them.  For example: Artificial reef construction to expedite/foster the propagation/creation of nereocystis lutkeana and indigenous species which was once overly abundant in the Hood Canal/Puget Sound/Salish Sea/Pacific Ocean.  I am looking into the sea urchin issue which is an ongoing war not just with the state of Washington but in California, and Oregon as well.  I’m also looking into several other aquatic species which are not in a homeostatic state of equilibrium currently.  Ocean Acidification is a global phenomenon which I intend to participate in finding solutions to as well.  There are several other massively funded organizations that are undertaking this fight head on… Unfortunately, they’re all underfunded, underpromoted, and definitely not catching the eyes/ears of the masses.  I intend to change that, in hopes to inspire all of humanity to participate in this frightening and delicate balance of life which we all share.  Tomorrow is not promised or any of us… Proteus intends to try to establish a legacy that will provide the opportunity for the generations of life yet to come.

The Products that I am developing and content that I will be creating is a means to this end.  Through education and inspiration, I hope to gain a following of the masses that will not only be cheerleaders in the big game, but to also PARTICIPATE in finding a better world that we can all live in, and hopefully learn to RESPECT all life… not just human life. It’s not just my fight, and it’s not just my planet.  It belongs to all of us.  If there is to be any HOPE for the FUTURE… we all must take responsibility and come at this fight not with an attitude of already being defeated… but of an attitude that we can only accept so much… We must raise our standards and do this thing TOGETHER!

I have been recruiting some people, and networking constantly/feverishly… I am now getting closer to getting the work… STARTED!
